The Secret Life of a Naturist #20 “The Vigil” Part 1

The Secret Life of a Naturist #20 “The Vigil” Part 1

The current storyline was discussed with the editor at Clothesfreelife back in March due in part on the subject matter regarding gay bashing. He liked the idea but suggested I incorporate a naturist element to it as it is was not some thing that is typically associated with being a nudist. Society often have issues with anyone who is different or don’t comply with their views or lifestyle and this is true for anyone who is gay or nudists.

I didn’t think I should bring the story in the present so I went back to the past when Johnny and Dan had known each other after a full semester in University.

A lot of ideas came flooding in on how best to present this and decided on giving it a graphic novel feel. Evening setting, shadows from street lights and dramatic scenes that described what was happening without too much narrative.

Having gone through a mugging back in my late twenties, this was a difficult story for me to capture on paper. It was not an easy strip to create in a few panels which is why I opted to use “to be continued” for the first time.

Here is: “The Vigil” Part 1

I welcome any feedback you may have regarding the story you have just read. Unlike many comic strips published today I want to be able to bring a human element to the cartoon and not simply humour.

Artist and Naturist. Last of 11 siblings born in Laval Quebec, now living in Nova Scotia with my husband John.

I am a self-taught artist and have always loved to draw. I created his first comic book super-hero when he was six and over the span of 20 years created 90 books. My biggest fans were the many nieces and nephews of my large family. I had my first published cartoon strip "The Spice of Life" in two local Montreal papers from 1993 to 1995.

I moved to Nova Scotia in 1997 and started to paint watercolours after falling in love with the province and its people. John then introduced to acrylics in 2006 and had a few paintings in auctions for local charities. I am a tongue cancer survivor that I was operated for in November of 2016. I enjoy living life to the fullest and being nude as much as possible. I enjoy swimming, reading, yoga and meditation.
